If you have a difficult time concentrating or find yourself out of control, you may wonder do i have ADD? Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) is a common disorder in children, but what many people do not realize is that it is also common in adults. Here are some questions that you can ask yourself to try and determine if it is possible that you could have ADD.

  • Inattentiveness: Do you have an abnormally hard time focusing on everyday tasks? Do you find yourself easily distracted, or experiencing intense feelings of boredom with what you are doing? Do you feel slow, as if you are trying to work through a mental fog? Do you “space out” a lot? Do you frequently misplace or forget things or have difficulty managing your time?

These can be symptoms of ADD – but it is important to remember they could also be signs of other things – commonly associated like genuine boredom, fatigue . It may be possible you’re in the wrong line of work and truly just aren’t interested in what you’re doing. It may also be that you have poor focus because you are experiencing some kind of chronic fatigue.  When asking yourself do i have ADD consider whether you’re getting enough rest at night and what you’re eating. Also consider asking a physician if anything else could be wrong, for instance a thyroid problem.

  • Hyperactivity: Do you feel like you constantly need to be on the move? Do you fidget, always needing something to do with your hands? Do you get restless after staying in one position for only a short time? Do you feel a need to dominate conversation and speak constantly?

These signs can also point toward possible ADD. But like with inattentiveness it is important to consider other possibilities.

  • Lack of Inhibition: Do you find yourself acting before thinking, and paying the consequences for your impulsiveness later? Do you like to rush through an assignment or a job, regardless of mistakes? Are you frequently told your behavior is inappropriate? Do you take unreasonable risks?

If you found yourself answering “yes” to many of these questions while reading this article, it is possible you could have ADD. There are three different forms of ADD that have been identified. ADD patients who display all three categories of signs outlined above are said to have Combined Type ADHD. There are also people who are Predominantly Inattentive or Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive.

Even if you do exhibit many of these signs, you cannot be certain you have ADD. Many other factors can contribute to a manifestation of these symptoms including environmental and physiological causes, not to mention your basic underlying personality. I recommend you get a personality test in order to define what is normal for you. It is important you visit a doctor to be sure you receive a proper diagnosis. These symptoms are in many ways common to everyone. It’s mainly a question of the severity and whether these characteristics would be abnormal for someone of your age in your particular situation.

Do you have add ? If you do end up having ADD there’s no reason to despair – having finally identified the cause of your behaviour, you can finally begin treating your it disorder so you can move on with your life and start living with add.
